Common Destiny is the first documentary film on the Belt and Road Initiative (Silk Road Economic Belt & C21st Maritime Silk Road Initiative) set up by Chinese President Xi Jinping. It will illustrate this global trading initiative with stories of how it will touch the lives of people throughout the world, focusing on individuals living in those countries along the Belt and Road and showing how a 'common destiny' can unite us all.

In this film, we will travel from Africa to Europe, from China to Central Asia, and from the Arctic to South America. These stories have a butterfly effect as the Belt and Road touches every corner of the world.

On the Grasslands in Kenya , an African girl and a train

In the old town of Kashi, a Uyghur boy and his basketball

Along the ancient Silk Road, a Chinese truck driver and tree saplings

In the thousand year old city of Cuenca, a Spaniard and the craft of papermaking

On the high desert of Chile, an astronomer and stargazing

Their lives are transformed by each other

Common Destiny, our shared future.
